Our commitment to privacy

We place a high priority on protecting your privacy. This privacy policy was created in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to the privacy of our website users. This policy explains what types of information is collected online by the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT) via the Building Innovation Hub.

Information we collect

Individuals that sign up to receive Hub communication voluntarily provide IMT with contact information (such as name and email address). IMT uses this information for the specific, limited purposes for which it was provided. You may always “opt out,” either now or at any time in the future, if you do not wish to receive Hub messages.

IP addresses

IMT may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with its servers, to administer the Hub site, and for statistical metrics used to track website visitor traffic.

The Hub website use cookies to generate aggregate web traffic data and help provide better services. They remind us who you are and your preferences for our website based on what you’ve done and told us before. Cookies let us take you to the information and features you’re particularly interested in. They also let us track your usage so we know which parts of our site are most popular. The “cookie” is placed in your computer and is read when you come back to our website. You can reject cookies or cancel them by instructing your Web browser accordingly.

How your information may be used

IMT may use your personal information to send Hub email alerts to you and to send you Hub newsletters or a Hub-focused survey. This may involve using your contact information in a secured third-party platform such as Mailchimp and Survey Monkey. You may choose to opt out at any time by unsubscribing from our messages, which will cease all communications from the Hub.

Your information will not be sold to or shared with third-party vendors for use in outreach not directly related to the IMT and the Hub.

IMT may also use web traffic data to track visitors of our website. This lets us see which of our features are the most popular so we can better serve our users’ needs. It also lets us provide aggregate data about our traffic (not identifying you personally, but showing how many visitors used which features, for example) to outside parties.

IMT takes care to use platforms that safeguard your personal information. Nevertheless, despite our best efforts, no transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure. If you feel your personal information has been used incorrectly or illegally, please contact us using the form below or call 202-525-2883, x306.

Storage and retention of personal information

Your information collected through the Hub website is stored and processed on servers in the United States. Users in the European Union should be aware that their data will be transferred to the United States and that the European Commission has not found United States law to adequately protect the rights of data subjects. The Hub takes reasonable precautions to ensure that all processing activities conducted on our behalf are compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Under that regulation, EU users who believe their data has been misused have the right to lodge a complaint with their Member State’s supervisory authority.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can contact the Hub by email using the form below to inquire if we are keeping personal information about you. Factual errors in your personal information, including out-of-date information, can be corrected by using the form below to request for such a change that credibly shows our error.

Email privacy

IMT does not provide, sell, or rent email addresses to anyone for any purposes, except that we may share this information with third-party vendors as necessary for the distribution of our own newsletters and alerts. Such vendors are contractually prohibited from using or sharing your personal data for any other purpose.

External links

The Hub website may include links to external websites. These links do not fall under the domain, and IMT is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of external websites. Your use of any linked website is solely at your own risk.

From time-to-time our newsletters or websites may requests information via surveys. Participation in these surveys is completely voluntary and you may choose whether or not to participate and therefore disclose this information. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of Hub resources, services, programming, and tools.

We may amend this privacy policy from time to time; please review it periodically. We maintain the option to modify this privacy at any time by electronic notice posted on our website. Your continued use of our website after the date that such notices are posted will be deemed to be your agreement to the changed terms.
