UN Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction
In 2023, the United Nations Environment Programme named the Building Innovation Hub as a member of the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC). The Hub joins organizations from 38 countries that are working towards high-performance buildings. Founded at COP21, the GlobalABC is a leading global platform for governments, private sector, civil society, research, and intergovernmental organizations committed to a common vision: A zero-emission, efficient and resilient buildings and construction sector.
USGBC’s Community Leader Award: Excellence in Government, Advocacy or Policy
The Building Innovation Hub was pleased to receive a 2022 Community Leader Award from the USGBC National Capital Region Market Leadership Advisory Board and USGBC staff for engaging in meaningful, game-changing work in local government, advocacy, or policy. The Hub will be honored at the annual A Midsummer Night’s Green celebration on July 21 at the Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, DC. This event will also include the announcement other Community Leader Project Award winners.
UN International Centre of Excellence for High-Performing Buildings
During COP26, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe High-Performance Building Initiative recognized the Hub as an International Centre of Excellence for High-Performance Buildings. Read more in our press release.
2021 AIA|DC’s Partnership for the Planet Award
The Washington Architectural Foundation and AIA|DC recently named the Building Innovation Hub as the winner of the 2021 Partnership for the Planet Award. The award recognizes an individual, firm, or team which has championed sustainable and/or resilient development in the Washington, DC region. The Hub was recognized publically with other Honor Award winners at a Fall Design Fete on November 12, 2021.
