Buildings in Maryland over 35,000 square feet are required to benchmark energy usage for the first time this year by September 1, 2025. To help multifamily and condo buildings with the new energy benchmarking requirement, the Building Innovation Hub will be hosting office hours every Thursday afternoon through the summer.
During each session, the Hub will walk through an overview of the new requirements, how to check the status of your building in the MDE BEPS Portal, steps you need to take to start benchmarking, best practices to avoid common mistakes, and available resources for more information. Bring your questions for the Hub and local experts to answer.

About the Hub: The Building Innovation Hub (Hub) helps stakeholders in DC, Maryland, and Virginia navigate regulations – like Benchmarking, Building Energy Performance Standards, and green codes – and break down barriers to making building improvements with sustained impact. We provide resources, highlight market leaders, educate decision-makers on rising trends, and assist in making critical connections. The Hub is a project of the Institute for Market Transformation.
