To support you as you navigate Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) compliance, the Hub created two sample Energy Audit scopes of work (SOW). The first was initially intended for analyzing multiple BEPS Compliance Pathway options, but it can also be used for buildings that have already chosen a pathway (which is most buildings) in order to assess your building’s overall energy performance and identify ways to reduce energy consumption and improve building performance. The SOW can be downloaded and tailored as applicable for your situation. The second SOW is intended for use on projects that have chosen to follow the Prescriptive Compliance Pathway (which is not typical).
These scopes of work do not guarantee compliance with BEPS, and are subject to change as the District Department of Energy & Environment’s (DOEE) guidance evolves.
To learn more about energy audits consult the “Get an Energy Audit” section of our Service Procurement Guide. Use our Find-A-Vendor portal to find an energy auditor.

This Energy Audit Scope of Work is to help you either choose a BEPS Compliance Pathway or analyze multiple Pathway options. For buildings that have already chosen a pathway (which is most buildings), this SOW can still be used to assess your building’s overall energy performance and identify ways to reduce energy consumption and improve building performance. Download it and update the document as applicable for your situation.

This Energy Audit Scope of Work addresses the requirements outlined in the Prescriptive Compliance Pathway. Note: the prescriptive pathway is only available for BEPS Cycle 1 per the BEPS Amendment Act of 2024.
