In the absence of federal support for climate action, local leaders are activating a powerful and scalable approach: cutting greenhouse gas emissions from existing buildings. Many local and state governments are already doing this through policies, like benchmarking legislation and building performance standards, that dramatically improve building energy efficiency. Scaling up these efforts could be game-changing for climate action.
But expertise in the buildings sector is complex and fragmented, with building owners, operators, tenants, and contractors operating independently and occasionally at odds. Owners need to know that the risks of inaction are greater than the risks of action. And they need to know that they are not acting alone.
The Building Performance Partnership (BPP), a project of Building Energy Exchange and the Institute for Market Transformation, has created an industry-wide network of hubs that brings together industry leaders to tackle these challenges. Each hub offers best practices, success stories, and trustworthy information and resources.
Join BPP for a topical discussion about local action to scale building decarbonization in the U.S. This event will feature a snapshot of local building performance policy progress, and a moderated discussion of hub directors and leading real estate professionals covering the state of hub development, real-world success stories, and ways to continue scaling local hubs to increase building energy efficiency.
