Description

The Maryland Clean Buildings Hub, an initiative of the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA), invites Maryland’s building owners and managers to attend Building Connections. Building Connections brings together building owners, operators, regulators, incentive providers, and other stakeholders to learn about resources that can be leveraged to meet the State Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) targets as well as other building decarbonization goals. Goals of this event include:
Educating owners and managers of BEPS-covered buildings about the range of funding, financing, and technical assistance options available to leverage,

Unveiling new funding and technical assistance programs, including the Maryland Energy Administration’s Fiscal Year 2027 Commercial Buildings Program, the BEPS Technical Assistance Program, and the BEPS Affordable Housing Roadmap Program, and

Knowledge-sharing between building owners and managers, state agencies, nonprofits, and other stakeholders

Agenda:

  • Check-in (12:30-1:00 PM)
  • Plenary (1:00 – 2:00 PM): Welcome remarks from the Clean Buildings Hub and key agencies and partners
  • Networking Break (2:00-2:30 PM)
  • Choose a track/breakout room (2:30 – 4 PM): Participants choose a programming track based on their building type. Tracks include:
    • Commercial buildings: Led by Hub staff, commercial building owners can learn about MEA’s Commercial & Community Buildings Grant Program, as well as the BEPS Technical Assistance Program.
    • Houses of worship: Led by Interfaith Power & Light, this track will provide technical assistance for houses of worship seeking to decarbonize their buildings.
    • Local governments: Led by Hub staff, this track is reserved for members of the BEPS Cohort for Local Governments.
    • Affordable Housing: Led by the Department of Housing & Community Development, this track will introduce DHCD and MDE’s joint compliance pathway (“the Roadmap”) for BEPS.
